Singer, pianist, composer and painter Meredith d'Ambrosio and I have been dear friends for many years. Here's what she told me about the video she asked me to post: "I had this videotape in my possession for many years. It's an interview of me after my solo concert in Avignon, France, in 1988. My friend took it to the library recently and converted the tape to a CD. I wish the quality was bette...

I think correct date is 2024
Wow, Lola is on fire 😊
Please correct the date in the title.
so good musicians in the next generation also!
Koldo does it again! Beautiful bari tone and interpretation of the piece. This well-used tune is such a great training piece, and each iteration of the band seems to find a good reason to play it. Love the extended sax ensemble sound, and the piano solo as well.
Dueling baritones! Great!
Date is incorrect. Sax sections are always very tight in the Maestro’s bands Good stuff!!
Really good solos! Thanks
Supersax.
That's a killer chart.
2014?
No idea who the sax player in the back row is ... but she's good! (unless it's Lola Peñaranda) the coloured lamps make it a bit difficult to see! R (Australia)
Yes, it's Lola.
Above the recorded year is given as 2014 instead of 2024.
Maybe it is true, video is 360p 😉
Holy Smokes does this Swing!!!!!!
Sooooo Incredible! KOLDO MUNNE! and BERNAT BENAVENTE!, the young heir apparent to the Baritone chair when veteran Koldo leaves the SAJB. These are the Saxes: Sander Theuns/Shanti Ming/ALTOS, Lola Peñaranda/Pere Company/TENORS, Koldo Munné/Bernat Benavente/BARITONES (June 11, 2024)
Jordi, PLEASE check my Sax list above and let me know if I have BERNAT BENAVENTE and PERE COMPANY reversed - if so, I'll Edit it and Fix it!
Don't forget Noa B. She's sitting there on alto, not playing this song, but part of the section too!
Didn’t Mr. Davis take P Diddy under his wings 🪽
This is INCREDIBLE!!! Go SAJB Sax Section!!! 🎷🎷🎷🎷🎷🎷 👏👏BRAVO, KOLDO!!👏
la fecha está mal. Esto es en 11 de junio del 2024. Yo estaba en primera fila. Por cierto un concierto memorable.
Precious! Koldo great, as always and Pau is a genius in the piano solos. Oh Boy, how I love these kids!
Lola Penaranda is a rising star!!!
I may be wrong, but Pere Company took over the baritone?!?
Jimmy, PLEASE check my Sax list above and let me know if I have BERNAT BENAVENTE and PERE COMPANY reversed - if so, I'll Edit it and Fix it!!
Joan Chamorro's sax section at their best...and they are only between12 and 20 years old !!
Thanks for posting! Typo? 2024, right?
Yes, 2024
Mellowest array of saxophones since the Jimmie Lunceford Band! Great arrangement! And solid vocal! Can not wait to hear more from the new-to--me jazz singer!
So who is she? ... new to me too! R (Australia)
Must be from the year 2024.
It's from July 6, 2024.
Wonderful, as always
👍👍👍
Super cool. Beautifully played .
Clive Davis is an idiot from what I've heard of his remarks. I think he was high on Led Zeppelin and everybody else couldn't play music.
I got to hear Bill live twice, in Chicago, in the '70s. The first time was at Joe Segal's Jazz Showcase. I had arrived very early, and took a seat right behind the piano bench. Later, George Shearing took the seat next to me. George to Bill -- "How's the piano?" Bill to George -- "execrable." Joe, later, when could put the money together, took his pianos very seriously. The second time, was at Ratso's, where I was mixing live sound, probably another stop on the same tour as this one. I was 35, had been listening to jazz since age 14, and was a big Evans fan. I was in heaven!
Wonderful ☺️
Fabulous music making!
This is really delightful. Bravo to Ms Stafford and her two bandmates. I confess I wasn't familiar with Wanda's work till I read about her on Marc Myers great JazzWax. But I am now a big fan!
Thanks so so much for posting this glorious piece of insight into Meredith's artistry! Much appreciated!
Sooo good. thank you.

What a lovely video of an amazing artist. So gifted in so many ways!
A wonderful singer, pianist and artist.
Meredith D’Ambrosio is great! A terrific singer and visual artist. Thanks for making this available
Meredith is so beautiful and great, I love her
I love ❤ Bill Evans music in it'd totally. A great candid interview. No ego just a spot on upload.Thank you.He had one mind about the direction of music,to isten to him play a Fender Rhodes piano, and to think in the future to think of incorpating a synthesizer, he was always thinking forward. I think it would have been interesting to hear him playing with Oscar Peterson, and Kieth Emerson as a trio in all acoustic setting. Too bad he left all to soon. But his legacy will live on.RIP, BILL EVANS, CSCAR PETERSON, ,MC COY TYNER and Kieth Emerson.Once again great interview.
thank you. this has helped me in my life. thanks..
It almost didn’t matter who interviewed Bill Evans. He was so articulate, intelligent, confident and relaxed that all you had to do was get him rolling. My personal favorite Evans solo with that Miles Davis sextet was on “Love for Sale.” I’m glad he mentioned Mike Nock, whose playing I always enjoyed. Evans said he had heard that Nock was playing at Sweet Basil in the Village back then, and he was correct. I saw Nock play there at least twice. That was the period when John Abercrombie played the room or sat in on a fairly regular basis. Sweet Basil was a nice place.
Thanks so much for sharing this. I grew up around Madison and always love listening to WORT. I was recently back in Madison for a visit with my parents and was so delighted to find that the show he played during this trip was released as an album. I bought it at B-Sides on State Street. I am too young to have ever seen Bill play live, but getting to hear this interview he did for WORT and the show he played at the Union Theatre is pretty special.
I saw this particular trio at the Bottom Line in NYC that summer.
incredible audio quality, this is like a podcast from 1976
Thats radio for ya
thank you so much dor the upload
